Pick up those dumbbells and channel your inner strength. The Walleye Weekend Strongman Competition is set for Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac. The Strongman Competition will kick off on Saturday, June 13 at 12 p.m. with weigh-ins. Events in this year’s competition include: Conan Wheel, Wheel Barrel, Pick-Up Sprint, Car Flip, Medley, Tire Flip and Semi-Truck Pull. The competition features two weight divisions for participants. The Lightweight is for competitors 220 lbs and under while the Heavyweight is for competitors 221 lbs and over. There will be prizes for first and second place winners in both divisions. All competitors who register before June 5 will receive a free t-shirt. Those interested in competing can find registration forms online at www.walleyeweekend.com or pick one up at the Fond du Lac Festivals office at 650 N. Main St. Completed forms must be turned in or post-marked by May 28 with the $25 fee, the money will help benefit Autism Awareness. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
