Fond du Lac based Wells Manufacturing has been sold to a Japanese company. Wells was sold to NGK NCT Spark Plug Co. for $257. 5 million. Wells has been in Fond du Lac since 1902 and a Wells spokesman says the company will remain in Fond du lac. The company employs more than 600 people including 250 at Wells Vehicle Electronics on West Rolling Meadows Drive. NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd., is a ceramics processing manufacturer based in Nagoya, Japan.with 13,000 employees.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
