EMS Strong. That’s the them for Emergency Medical Services Week this week. Fond du Lac Assistant Fire Chief Todd Janquardt says the week focuses on EMS as an indispensable part of the health care continuum. Janquardt says EMS workers experience a rollercoaster of emotions in their daily lives from the elation of saving a life to responding to the most horrific accidents and tragedies. “The amount of psychological load that our personnel go through in the course of their career. These personnel see the worst of the worst, but they also see the best of the best,” Janquardt told WFDL news. The Fire and Rescue Department held a public open house Wednesday at their South Main Street station.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
