5-21-15 fdl county executive still waiting for official closing notice from ripon cookie company

The Fond du Lac County executive says there is still nothing official from ConAgra that its closing one of its cookie plants that makes Rippin’ Good cookies.  Al Buechel says he had no inkling that layoffs were planned at the Ripon company.  “If there had been something confirmed I think I would have heard it by now,”  Buechel told WFDL news.  Buechel says ConAgra should notify him if there is a layoff because he is the chief  elected official of the county.  He says by state law the company would have to notify the state and employer if there are more than 50 layoffs.  The plant that would be closed employs 300 people.  So what does Buechel think is going on?  “I don’t know, I have absolutely no idea…I’m hoping we can salvage them.”
