5-28-15 merc expansion

Construction is getting underway on a major expansion project at Fond du Lac’s Mercury Marine. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Wednesday morning on a new 45,000 square foot EDP plant expansion.  Merc president John Pfeifer says the expansion is part of the company’s investment in the main campus in Fond du Lac.  “EDP coatings is what gives us the anti-corrosive nature of our product which of course is critical for a marine propulsion system,”  Pfeifer told WFDL news.   Pfeifer says the new EDP system will double the capacity of the current system.  Pfeifer says motorists traveling on Pioneer Road will notice construction to the east of the main plant.  The plant is expected to be in operation in about 18 months.
