5-19-15 ripon cookie plant closing

ConAgra Foods has announced it will be closing one of two cookie plants in Ripon this fall.  The maker of Rippin’ Good Cookies will close its west plant starting in September.   The plant employs about 300 people.  The laid off workers will be able to apply for other positions in the company.  A company spokesman says the east plant, which produces wafer cookies will remain open.

5-19-15 fdl bridge closure

The Department of Public Works would like to inform the public of the closure of Seymour Street between Grove Street and West 11th Street. The closure is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19th  and will remain closed one day to complete bridge repairs. The public is asked to plan an alternate route during this time as there will not be a marked detour.

Investigators believe they know where a fatal fire started in a Waupun apartment complex last week, but the exact cause remains under investigation.  Firefighters were called to the apartment building on West Brown Street Thursday night.  Waupun Fire Chief, B.J. MADISON, Wis. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democratic lawmakers are calling on federal investigators to launch a probe into Gov. Scott Walker's flagship job creation agency.  Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca and Sen. Julie Lassa both sit on the Wisconsin Economic Development Association's board. 5-19-15 child porn suspect due back in court this week

A Brandon man charged with possession of child pornography and under investigation for child sex assault is due back in court this week.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday for 38 year old Scott Knuuttila on charges of possession of child pornography.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Cameron McGee says Knuuttila is also under investigation for the sexual assault of a child in Stevens Point.
