An arraignment hearing for a Kenosha man charged in the cold case slaying of a Sturdevant teenager in Fond du Lac County has been rescheduled for Friday The hearing was postponed last month after the attorney for Dennis Brantner requested a judge substitution. The case was being heard by circuit judge Richard Nuss. The rescheduled hearing will be held Friday in Judge Gary Sharpe’s court. Brantner is charged with first degree murder in the 1990 death of Berit Beck. He is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a million dollars cash bail.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
