A $5000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in setting a fire that destroyed a vacant former convent building in Fond du Lac. Police say they believe the fire was intentionally set and are following up on a number of leads but have made no arrests. The fire Friday night destroyed the building at the corner of Division and Amory Streets. Nobody was injured. The state Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting in the investigation.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
