MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The private sparring among Wisconsin Supreme Court justices is spilling over into public during an open meeting to discuss court rules. Chief Justice Patience Roggensack presided over Wednesday’s meeting, with former longtime Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson sitting next to her. At one point, Roggensack tells Abrahamson twice that she is out of order for trying to debate a topic while Roggensack wants to move on. Abrahamson has filed a federal lawsuit challenging Roggensack’s election as chief of the court.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
