The Fond du lac School superintendent says Fond du Lac Youth Baseball and the Recreation Department are making it work even though kids have fewer diamonds to play baseball on this summer. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says Baseball Inc. decided to close the 4th Street ball diamonds this year after the district ended its lease agreement with the organization. “They are two very nice diamonds but they are the property of Baseball Inc. and so its their perogative,” Sebert told WFDL news. “Renee Wagner, in working through the Recreation Department with Fond du Lac Youth Baseball, I think they’ve been able to make it work.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
