A complaint filed with the Wisconsin Supreme Court says a Fond du Lac attorney allegedly tried to bribe a court assistant after he claimed he was being “railroaded” by a Winnebago County judge. The complaint filed by the Office of Lawyer Regulation says attorney Kirk Everson was upset because the judge refused to reschedule an owi trial. According to the complaint Everson offered the judge’s assistant a gift card and said words similar to “What, I don’t see anything,” but took back the card. The assistant told the judge who contact the OLR about the incident.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
