Now that the new speed limit has been posted in Interstate 41…local law enforcement has a message for motorists. The new 70 mph limit will be strictly enforced. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says deputies have been instructed to strictly enforce the new speed limit. “The speed limit is 70, that’s the bottom line, strict enforcement, 70 mph, ” Olig told WFDL news. ” The concern is if we give much leeway at all the average speed will be 80.” Signs went up on I-41 from Milwaukee to Green Bay Tuesday.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
