Wisconsin state revenue secretary Rick Chandler says a plan to finance a new Milwaukee Bucks arena unveiled a week and a half ago is a good deal for the state. Chandler told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program the state would be putting in $80 million over the next 20 years with $299 million in return in income tax payments. “That’s better than a 3-1 return and so we think that’s a great deal for state taxpayers.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
