A Fond du Lac man has been arrested following a fight and residential burglary. Hughie Roby faces multiple charges including armed burglary and criminal damage to property. Bail was set at $15,000 cash. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says the initial call came in June 7th for a report of a fight in the 100 block of East 1st Street with reports of possible gunshots fired. A 62 year old Fond du Lac man was charged with operating a firearm while intoxicated. Klein says about an hour later officers were called to another fight in the 100 block of 3rd street involving the two individuals who had been fighting earlier including Roby.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
