Wisconsin political observers say when lawmakers will agree on a new state budget is anybody’s guess at this point. The legislature’s jt. Finance committee will not meet again until next week as lawmakers continue wrestling over which road projects would be affected by an $800 million cut in transportation funding. Ross told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program the other issue is whether funding for a new Milwaukee Bucks arena is removed from the budget and considered separately. “You know the Bucks thing, if they take it out right now, that would delay that process but it could speed up the budget itself,” Ross said.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
