todayJune 19, 2015

A North Fond du Lac man has been convicted of setting his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on fire.  At a hearing this week Laney Amons pleaded no contest to arson.  He will be sentenced in October.   Assistant police chief Steve Klein says Amons was accused of setting fire to the Home Town Harbor apartment complex on North Seymour Street a little more than a year ago.  According to a criminal complaint Amons and his former girlfriend had gotten into an argument earlier in the evening.  The woman told investigators that Amons had broken into her apartment in the past.  According to the complaint Amons was upset that his former girlfriend was talking with another man at a bar…and squirted lighter fluid on the television cord, outlet and lights to make it look like an electrical fire.  The fire caused substantial damage to the apartment complex and displaced residents in four separate apartment units.
