Eight full time positions are being eliminated as part of more than $1 million in cuts at Fond du Lac’s Marian Univeristy. That according to a mem sent to faculty and staff by interim president Bob Fale. The Marian Board of Directors approved the cuts at a meeting last month. Four faculty positions in art, English, foreign language, information technology and music are being eliminated. Four full time and two part time positions were cut in admissions, financial aid and human resources.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
