It appears the historic Retlaw Hotel will get its liquor license after all. After the Fond du Lac city council voted Wednesday night not to renew the licenses the hotel made a credit card payment Thursday. City manager Joe Moore says the $5600 credit card payment in addition to two checks totaling $55,000 sent Wednesday would cover the entire amount owed for utlity bills and property taxes. “If their credit card payment to the county for property taxes that were in arrears is processed and verified then that would bring them to having no debts to the city or the county,” Moore told WFDL news. Moore says per council action the Retlaw would then have its liquor license renewed for another year. “Well obviously this situation is difficult. Its certainly difficult for the employees of the Retlaw, its difficult for those of us close to the situation and for the city council because it creates so much unpredictability.”
