6-8-15 vacant former convent in fdl destroyed by fire

Nobody was injured in a fire that destroyed a vacant former convent in Fond du Lac Friday evening.  Firefighters were called to the scene on the corner of Division and Amory Streets to find heavy fire in the attic and roof area of the massive brick building.  Firefighters quickly attacked the flames pouring water on nearly all sides. 6-8-15 nfdl school board vacancy

Four candidates have applied for a vacancy on the North Fond du lac School Board.  The board will hold a special meeting Tuesday to interview the candidates  and make a selection.  The candidates to fill the seat are Sherrie Degner,  Diane Mand, Melissa Will and  Ronald Margis.  Superintendent Aaron Sadoff  says the vacancy was created when board member Ryan Pelot stepped down because he moved out of the district.

6-8-15 two men accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from sadoff iron and metal

Two men accused of stealing from the Sadoff Iron and Metal company have been bound over for trial. 6-8-15 berit beck murder suspect enters not guilty plea

A Kenosha  man charged in the  cold case slaying of a Sturdevant teenager in Fond du Lac County was back in court Friday afternoon for his arraignment hearing.  Dennis Brantner entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of  first degree murder in the 1990 death of Berit Beck.  Investigators say they found Brantner’s fingerprints in Beck’s van.  Beck disappeared while driving from her home in Sturdevant to a […]

6-8-15 fdl man accused of home invasions found competent

A Fond du lac  man charged with a series of home invasions has been found competent to proceed in court. Lucas Leffel  is charged with seven counts of  burglary and attempted second degree sexual assault.  Police say Leffel admitted to entering four homes in the southeast side of town while naked last year.  Leffel is being held in jail on $250,000 cash bond.

The village of North Fond du Lac has a new acting Fire Chief as the search for a permanent chief/EMS director continues.  The North Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission has approved hiring fire lieutenant, Bruce Pluim as Acting Fire chief.  Village administrator, Chuck Hornung, says 19 people from throughout the country have applied for the permanent position.  Hornung says he hopes the village can hire a new chief […]

6-6-15 fdl police investigating whether fireworks discharge and mailbox vandalism incidents are related

Fond du Lac police are investigating whether the apparent discharging of fireworks earlier this week is related to a rash of mailbox vandalism incidents.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein says police received two reports of what sounded like either gunshots or fireworks the same night that dozens of mailboxes were vandalized in the city and just outside the city limits.  Police are still looking for the person or persons responsible.
