7-9-15 bucks arena

todayJuly 8, 2015

The senate Republican leader says he still doesn’t have the votes necessary to approve a new Milwaukee Bucks arena.  Senator Scott Fitzgerald told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program Wednesday that Republican legislative leaders are still working on tweaks or additions to the plan that may garner enough votes to approve the  plan.  “I think there’s still some senators on my side that are looking for answers to some of the questions, including maybe a ticket surcharge or other revenue streams that might be used in the center district to try to reduce the level of bonding,”  Fitzgerald said.    Fitzgerald says it now appears the soonest a vote could take place would be sometime next week.  Republicans have crafted a bill that would devote $250 million to the arena through a mix of state and local tax dollars over the next 20 years. The Bucks owners would contribute $150 million and former owner Herb Kohl would contribute $100 million.
