7-9-15 wla says it may look to move if mcdermott park lease falls through

The principal of Fond du lac’s Winnebago Lutheran Academy says the school may have to move to a new location if if  it is not allowed to expand its athletic fields in McDermott Park.  Principal Dave Schroeder told WFDL news that facility expansion is part of the school’s long range facilities plan.  “With us being landlocked, that certainly would be an issue with us going forward,”  Schroeder told WFDL news.  “We have not taken moving off the table.”   Citty staff has proposed a 50 year lease agreement to have WLA build three new athletic fields in the park and a new parking lot.  The proposal has been met with opposition from residential neighbors.  Schroeder says the school is addressing the nieghbor’s concerns about the location of the parking lot.  “We did hear the public and we did hear our neighbors and they were not at all enthusiastic about that parking lot on the southside of the park so we relocated it to between WLA and the current tennis courts.”   But Schroeder says the WLA board is standing firm on the length of a lease agreement.
