On 07-10-15 at 7:48 am, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash on USH 41 south of STH 67 in the Township of Lomira, Dodge County, Wisconsin.  Preliminary investigation shows that a 59 years old male from Oshkosh, WI, identified as Abelardo Lopez, was operating a 1997 Toyota 4 Runner southbound on USH 41.  He had one passenger in his vehicle, a 53 year old female from Oshkosh, WI, identified as Imelda Lopez.  The Toyota SUV was approaching traffic in the construction area south of STH 67 and lost control of his vehicle.  According to witness statements, Lopez failed to slow for traffic and attempted an avoidance maneuver, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn on the pavement.  The SUV traveled into the west ditch, coming to rest on its wheels.   The SUV operator suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the scene.  The passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries and was flown from the scene by Flight-for-Life to Theda Clark hospital.  Assisting at the scene was:  Dodge County Crash Investigation Team, Wisconsin State Patrol, Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Lomira Fire Department, Brownsville Fire Department, Lomira First Responders, Mayville EMS, and Fond du Lac Paramedics.   Inattentive driving and Failure to have control of vehicle appear to be factors in this crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
