Dodge County residents are still cleaning up from thunderstorms early Monday morning. Dodge County Emergency management director Amy Nehls says in addition to strong straight-line winds that toppled power lines and trees, heavy rain also caused problems. “There was a lot of water standing in the ditches, in fields and some of the communities I drove through…baseball diamonds, all of that under water,” Nehls told WFDL news.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
