Political observers say governor Walker is doing all the right things heading into the partisan primaries and caucuses early next year…the question is how will that play out if he wins the nomination? Wispolitics.com editor J.R. Ross says Walker is bragging about his conservative policies and fighter reputation. Ross says the question is how does Walker address those issues in a general election campaign? “He will have a hard time pivoting back to the middle if that’s what he’s going to do,” Ross told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. “These are all big ifs. If he wins the nomination, if he tries to pivot back to the middle that will be a tough task for him because he’s talked about his conservative credentials constantly.” As Walker officially launches his campaign this week, Ross says Iowa is the key. “I get the impression that he needs Iowa. If he does not do well in Iowa it could really damage his campaign.”
