A Ripon man has pleaded not guilty to charges in connection with a fatal car versus motorcycle crash in Fond du lac County last summer. Travis Hartman entered the plea at an arraignment hearing Friday in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court to a charge of homicide by negligient operation of a motor vehicle. According to a criminal complaint Hartman was driving a a vehicle on Highway 44 in the town of Ripon when he looked down to change the radio dial and struck a motorcycle in front of him. The motorcycle operator died at the scene.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
