8-1-15 fdl police-boys and girls club partnership

todayJuly 31, 2015

Approximately two years ago the City of Fond du Lac Police Department began working with the staff of the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac to coordinate events and programs that would provide monthly interaction between members of the Police Department and the children that attend the B&GC. Those events have included opportunities for Department members to help the children with homework, play games such as basketball or dodgeball, do arts/crafts, team up for a spelling bee, or sometimes just talk and act as a mentor or positive role model.  Additionally, through financial support of the Cops for Kids Foundation, the police department has organized two field trips where members of the Police Department have accompanied the children. In 2014 kids attended a Milwaukee Bucks basketball game where the children were also provided the opportunity to sit court side for a period of time. Most recently, on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, several members of the Police Department participated in a field trip to Xtreme Air trampoline park in Appleton, WI. There, Department members participated with the kids in playing dodgeball and basketball on trampolines, gladiator jousting, climbing a three story rock wall, and a lot more.
