MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has signed a bill that bans microbeads, the plastic exfoliant in soap, toothpaste and other personal care products.  Scientists recently discovered that microbeads are flowing by the billions from wastewater plants into the Great Lakes and other water bodies. The 4th annual Celebrate Waupun festival gets underway this afternoon.  Waupun mayor Kyle Clark says Celebrate Waupun runs July 2nd through the fourth at Tanner Park.  Clark says a number of events are on tap including music, a carnival and all-american lumberjack show.   The event culminates with a Fourth of July fireworks show.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new report says the state's unemployment benefits fund finished the 2013-14 fiscal year in the black for the first time in years.  The Legislative Audit Bureau released a report Wednesday that showed the fund grew from a negative $208.4 million as of June 30, 2013, to $329.4 million as of June 30, 2014, the first positive balance since the end of fiscal year 2007-08.  Auditors […]

Despite a somewhat soggy summer to date, a free fishing trip for veterans that was organized by the Mercury Marine Military Veterans Network and the Fond du Lac chapter of Fishing Has No Boundaries was held Saturday under sunny skies and on smooth water. 7-1-15 former nfdl high school teacher convicted of sexually assaulting special ed student

A  former assistant special education teacher at Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac has been convicted of sexually assaulting a special education student.   As part of a plea agreement 45 year old Dominic Carmona pleaded no contest to one count of sexual assault of a student by school staff and one count of child enticement.  He was initially charged with 14 counts.  A sentencing hearing is scheduled […]

7-1-15 fatal atv crash-dodge county

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal ATV crash.  It happened Tuesday night on private property on County Highway AY in the town of Herman.  Investigators say the male ATV operator was traveling north along a hillside when he struck an object causing a rollover.  The operator was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.
