(AP) — Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has finalized his senior presidential campaign team.  The Republican said Friday that he'd finalized nearly two dozen positions.  Michael Grebe, a longtime Walker confidante and president of the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, will serve as campaign chairman. GRANTSBURG, Wis. (AP) — A small Wisconsin town is saying goodbye to a Marine killed in the recent attack on a Navy-Marine reserve center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A dozen members of a Marine Corps honor guard stood watch as fellow Marines carried the coffin of Sergeant Carson Holmquist into Grantsburg Senior High School for a public visitation Saturday. The 25-year-old Holmquist grew up in the northwestern Wisconsin town of 1,300.

A proposed McDermott Park lease agreement between the city of Fond du lac and Winnebago Lutheran Academy is on hold.  Public Works director Jordan Skiff said in a memo to the advisory board  two major discoveries could alter the discussion surrounding the proposal.  A portion of the park where the proposed athletic fields were planned is designated as a floodway, making matters complicated and costly.  Skiff said WLA may also […]

A final report on a shootout that claimed the life of a state  patrol trooper and bank robbery suspect portrays the trooper as a hero whose actions probably saved the lives of others.  The report concluded that trooper Trevor Casper responded appropriately.  On March 24th trooper Casper was shot and fatally wounded but not before he was able to return fire and kill the suspect.  The incident happened outside the […]

An Illinois woman charged with neglect in connection with the death of her infant son has waived her preliminary hearing in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.  Airealle Smart was bound over for trial on charges of neglecting a child  and neglecting a child causing death.   Police say Smart and her boyfriend were visiting friends at the Maplewood Commons apartments earlier this month when the incident occurred.  Police are looking […]

A Waupun man accused of sexually assaulting a three year old boy has pleaded not guilty to charges against him.  26 year old Robert Moungey entered the plea at an arraignment hearing Wednesday in Dodge County Circuit Court.  He’s charged with first degree sexual assault of a child.  Police learned of the alleged abuse from Moungey’s wife, 25 year old Cassandra Scheuers.  Scheuers is also accused of sexually assaulting the […]

An Oshkosh man accused of sexually assaulting four children when he lived  in Ripon in the 1990s has been bound over for trial.  Probable cause was found at a preliminary hearing Thursday afternoon for Chris Ziemer.  Ziemer is charged with multiple counts of repeated sexual assault of a child.  All of the alleged victims are now adults.  Ziemer is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on $500,000 […]
