The Fond du Lac County Board will consider a resolution at their meeting Tuesday night to purchase land for a new highway garage. The 37 acre site is located at the northwestern corner of Scott Road and Hickory Road. The cost of the property is $800,000. Fond du Lac County Highway commissioner Tom Jahnke says the Highway Department has outgrown its current facility on Dixie Street. County executive Al Buechel says construction on the $22 million project is slated to begin in 2021.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
