The Fond du Lac Fire Chief says his department would be more than willing to lend his department’s ladder truck to the village of North Fond du lac in the event of an emergency. Fire chief Pete O’Leary extended the offer as the village decides whether to replace an outdated ladder truck that’s nearing the end of its useful life. O”Leary says the cost of a new ladder truck is in the neighborhood of $850,000. “If North Fond du Lac does buy a new ladder truck, selfishly as a fire chief in the city, I would be happy about it because the chances they would use that fire truck in the city of Fond du Lac versus their own community is probably 20 to one in our favor.” O’Leary says his advice would be for the village to give mutual aid a try. “The probability of us not being available when they have a fire in NFDL is not all that great.”
