Ripon’s annual tribute to all things cookies will take place once again. The Cookie Daze committee will continue on with the festival in 2016, which will mark the 21st consecutive year of the event. Skepticism surrounding the event’s future began after ConAgra Foods announced in May that it would be closing the West Plant facility in Ripon. But Ripon Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jason Mansmith says the community has shown a clear desire to continue the festival and multiple business and organizations have made commitments to ensure Cookie Daze will continue. The Cookie Daze Committee is seeking members for 2016. If you are interested contact the Ripon Chamber of Commerce. The date for next year’s event is August 6th at Barlow Park in Ripon.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
