8-21-15 walker chief of staff stepping down

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Governor Scott Walker's longtime chief of staff is stepping down. The governor's office says Eric Schutt is leaving "to pursue other opportunities and to spend more time with family." Schutt's replacement effective September 4th will be Rich Zipperer, who had been deputy chief of staff since 2012.

8-21-15 anglers upset over dnr proposal to sell state-owned land

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Anglers are upset over a move by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources toward selling 1,000 acres of state-owned land that contain several spring-fed ponds with native brook trout populations. The small ponds in Langlade County are fed by rich sources of groundwater that sustain the fish and neighboring streams, rivers and lakes.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new poll shows Gov. Scott Walker leads the field of Republican presidential candidates in his home state of Wisconsin.  The Marquette University Law School poll released Thursday shows Walker with 25 percent support among Republican primary voters, down from 40 percent he had in the last poll done in April.  The next highest in the latest poll is Ben Carson at 13 percent. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new poll shows a tightening in the race for U.S. Senate between former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold and Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson.  The Marquette University Law School poll released Thursday shows Feingold with 47 percent support among registered voters, compared with 42 percent for Johnson. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin's unemployment rate for July is 4.6 percent, unchanged from June. The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development reports Thursday that the state added 8,200 private sector jobs over the month.  The state's unemployment rate continues to be lower than the national average, which was 5.3 percent in July.  The state data is based on a survey of 3.5 percent of Wisconsin employers. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A state Assembly committee has approved a Republican bill that would restrict John Doe investigations like ones that looked into Gov. Scott Walker and his aides.  The Assembly Judiciary Committee passed the measure on a 3-2 vote Thursday with all Republicans in support and Democrats against. 8-21-15 outdoor swimming pool season coming to a close

The City of Fond du Lac’s Parks Department says Taylor Pool will have extended hours Friday  including open swim from 6-8 pm  and will have regular hours through August 23rd,   Taylor Pool will be closed for the season starting Monday August 24th.     However, due to life guard staffing, the Fairgrounds Aquatic Center will close on Friday August 21st at 4:00 pm for the remainder of the season.
