MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Governor Scott Walker's longtime chief of staff is stepping down. The governor's office says Eric Schutt is leaving "to pursue other opportunities and to spend more time with family." Schutt's replacement effective September 4th will be Rich Zipperer, who had been deputy chief of staff since 2012.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Anglers are upset over a move by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources toward selling 1,000 acres of state-owned land that contain several spring-fed ponds with native brook trout populations. The small ponds in Langlade County are fed by rich sources of groundwater that sustain the fish and neighboring streams, rivers and lakes.

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development reports Thursday that the state added 8,200 private sector jobs over the month. The City of Fond du Lac’s Parks Department says Taylor Pool will have extended hours Friday including open swim from 6-8 pm and will have regular hours through August 23rd, Taylor Pool will be closed for the season starting Monday August 24th. However, due to life guard staffing, the Fairgrounds Aquatic Center will close on Friday August 21st at 4:00 pm for the remainder of the season.
