MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance says property values statewide have risen for a second year.  The report released Wednesday shows values of all taxable property increased 2.4 percent in 2015. Values went up 2.6 percent in 2014 after five years of decline.  The Taxpayers Alliance says the total value of property at just under $491 billion is still about $25 billion below the 2008 peak.  Of the […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Kraft Heinz's plan to cut hundreds of jobs includes dozens of nonunion positions in Madison.  The company has notified state labor officials that 165 jobs will be eliminated at the Oscar Mayer plant.  Kraft Heinz said Wednesday it's cutting about 2,500 jobs as part of its plan to slash costs after the food companies combined. 8-14-15 brownsville man sentenced in gas station robbery

8-14-15 police k9 dies at pga championship when air conditioning fails in squad car

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say a police dog assigned to the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits died after the air conditioner failed in his partner's squad car. Candy Fields of Mt. Calvary, Lisa Olson of Hartford and Bur Zeratsky of Green Lake were sworn in as the newest members of the Moraine Park Technical College District Board recently. Fields will serve as an employee member representative for the eastern portion of the Moraine Park District, and Zeratsky will represent the western portion of the District as an employer member. 8-13-15 missing woman found safe in dodge county

A missing Saukville woman has been found safe in Dodge County.  At about 8pm Wednesday a sheriff’s deputy found Shannon Cox in a vehicle in a parking lot of the Wild Goose state hiking trail on Highway 60 near Junction Road.  The Sheriff’s Office says Cox is being evaluated and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are under investigation.

8-13-15 town of empire man gets 39 years in prison for child sex assault

A town of Empire man convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl may end  up spending the rest of his life in prison.    Calling the crime despicable Fond du Lac Judge Gary Sharpe sentenced Jeffrey MacMillan to 39 years in prison and 24 years extended supervision.   "You deserve this punishment and probably deserve more,"  Judge Sharpe told MacMillan.  Prosecuting attorney Dennis Krueger told WFDL news the sentence is appropriate.  "This […]
