8-27-15 suzy favor hamilton memoir

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Former Olympian and University of Wisconsin track star Suzy Favor Hamilton says she plans to publish a memoir next month that will touch on mental health issues that she says drove her to become a call girl. Favor Hamilton told her Twitter followers Wednesday that the book, entitled "Fast Girl," will go on sale September 14th.

In accordance with Fond du Lac County’s holiday schedule, all County offices in the City/County Government Center, the Sheriff’s Office Lobby Window, the Portland Street Annex including the Veterans Service Office, the Department of Social Services and the Highway Department will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2015, in observance of Labor Day.

8-27-15 local unemployment rate down

The local unemployment rate is down in the latest reporting period.  The state Department of Workforce Development says the city of Fond du Lac’s jobless rate in July was 4.5 percent…down from 4.9 percent in June.  The unemployment rate in Fond du Lac County dropped from 4.4 to 4.1 percent last month.  In Dodge County the July unemployment rate stands at 4.4 percent, down from 4.7 percent the month before.

The Class of 2015 at Central Wisconsin Christian recorded the highest composite score in school history on the ACT test this past year, according to scores released Wednesday by the College Board. George Illetschko of Fond du Lac won the top prize in the August 22 SuperCash drawing. His winning ticket matched all six numbers of 2, 4, 11, 23, 24 and 39 to win the $350,000 prize.  Illetschko purchased his winning ticket at Korneli's Main Street Express, 506 South Main Street in Fond du Lac.  After taxes, Illetschko received a payment of $235,725.  Korneli's earns a $7,000 retailer incentive (or 2% […]

8-26-15 fdl man convicted in attack of menasha woman

A Fond du Lac jury has returned a split verdict against a Fond du Lac man charged in the beating and sexual assault of a Menasha woman.  The jury found Daniel Sease guilty on two counts of strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery, but not guilty of sexual assault.   A sentencing hearing is scheduled for September 10th.   The charges carry a maximum penalty of more than 15 years […]
