MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Governor Scott Walker has appointed a bank executive who has contributed thousands of dollars to his campaign to lead the state’s troubled economic development agency. Walker announced Thursday that he has tapped Mark Hogan to serve as the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s chief executive officer. Hogan replaces Reed Hall, who plans to retire this month.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
