A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain says contrary to an analysis that shows high-speed chases are becoming more common in Wisconsin…they are actually down locally. A report found law enforcement statewide was involved in 567 chases during the first half of the year…up 33 percent from last year. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig says the number of chases in Fond du Lac county is down. Statewide the number of high speed chases involving injuries also reached a five year high, but no deaths were reported.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
