9-7-15 political science professor says its not time for walker to push the panic button

todaySeptember 7, 2015

A Ripon College political science professor says even though Wisconsin governor Scott Walker has been steadily slipping in the polls over the summer its not time to push the panic button.  When Walker first announced he was running earlier this year he quickly jumped to the top of the polls.  But Walker’s numbers started fading after a lackluster performance in the first debate, questions about his position on issues like birthright citizenship  and statements that needed follow-up clarification from his campaign staff.  Political science professor Marty Farrell says there is still time to make up the lost ground.  “What does Scott Walker need to do to turn it around?  I’m sure his campaign is concerned about that but I think its also important not to push the panic button although its certainly not a good sign,”  Farrell told WFDL news.   The latest Marquette University law school poll showed Walker still leading the other Republican candidates in Wisconsin, but the margin had narrowed substantially from a poll that was taken in April.
