NEW LONDON, Wis. (AP) — A New London woman says she had been praying for the chance to see Pope Francis celebrate a papal Mass in Washington, D.C., this month, and is very excited about it. Camille Solberg is one of 500 Catholic University of America alumni selected to see the pope during his visit to the United States. The pope will make a special visit to the university for a Mass canonizing the Spanish-American missionary Junipero Serra.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
