MADISON, Wis. (AP) —Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is looking into changing the state’s open records law for the Legislature only. His spokeswoman says Vos wants to debate the changes before the end of the session next spring. The liberal Center on Media and Democracy in Madison on Tuesday released emails it obtained dated July 23 showing an aide to Vos requesting a bill be drafted that would allow the Legislature to set its own record retention policy by rule.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
