The Fond du Lac police department is concerned about The message a new pedal pub ordinance sends to the community. The Fond du Lac city council voted four to three last week to allow pedal pubs in the city. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says police are concerned about safety and how the ordinance will be enforced. “The enforcement, the potential for public health and safety,” Klein told WFDL news. “You’re talking about people being on a seated bike like that where they are consuming alcohol, being out in traffic. There’s definately some concerns to that.” Klein says he agrees with local health care groups who are concerned the ordinance is a step backward in the effort to change the alcohol-culture in the community.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
