The Wisconsin Council of African Violet Club’s will be holding its 52nd annual African violet show and sale on Saturday, October 3rd, from 10:00am to 5:00pm and on Sunday, October 4th, from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 300 Church St., Lomira, WI. Admission is free and open to the public, an excellent opportunity to view beautiful African violets and related plants on display and for sale. This years show theme is Our Violets at Church.   According to council president Judy Hess, the annual event is a showcase of magnificently grown plants and beautiful artistic designs by the members. Plants in the show will be judged on their own merit by judges trained and recognized by the African Violet Society of America (A.V.S.A.), headquartered in Beaumont, TX. First, second, and third place ribbons as well as “best in class” rosettes will be awarded on respective characteristics of the individual plants, such as foliage, blossom, symmetry, and other qualities as set forth in the A.V.S.A. judging guidelines.   In addition to the many beautiful and unusual plants in the show, there will be a large selection of plants, leaves, potting soil, pots and other supplies for sale. Anyone interested in growing plants is encouraged to come and meet the members who will be able to answer questions and help those who would like to grow African violets.
