The Fond du Lac Animal Shelter manager says every year the Humane Society has to come up with money to pay emergency medical bills, but she says this year has been unusually high. Renee Webb says in the last couple of months the shelter has been inundated with unexpected medical costs. Webb says the shelter’s annual medical bills are expected to top $100,000 this year. A special raffle this month will help pay some of the costs. You can purchase raffle tickets at the animal shelter…one for $20 and three tickets for $50. The top prize is $5000. The drawing will be held on Monday September 28th.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
