On Wednesday Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris announced his candidacy for the 18th State Senate District. “I’m here today because I believe Wisconsin’s legislature has lost sight of what matters
most to Northeastern Wisconsin families. We can and we must do much better, “ said Harris, “I’ve spent my career working to provide strong, steady leadership for Northeastern Wisconsin. As County Executive, I’ve worked with both sides of the aisle to balance the budget and reduce the county’s debts. Now, I want to take that same approach to the State Senate. I’ll work to reverse the crippling education cuts, encourage middle class job growth and restore common sense to Wisconsin’s budget while protecting the priorities that matter most to Wisconsin families.” Currently in his third term as Winnebago County Executive, Harris says he has has successfully balanced budgets and reduced total county spending while maintaining critical county services. Harris also said he led the effort to build a new County nursing home, supported education through UW Fox Valley, increased investment in infrastructure and increased
economic development funds and loan programs. Harris is challenging Fond du lac Republican senator Rick Gudex who was elected in 2012.
