9-17-15 supreme court justice won’t seek re-election

todaySeptember 16, 2015

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Patrick Crooks says he won’t run for a third term.  Crooks issued a statement Wednesday saying he won’t seek re-election in April. Joe Donald, a Milwaukee County circuit judge, and Joanne Kloppenburg and Rebecca Bradley, both state appellate judges, are all running for Crooks’ seat. Bradley registered to run on Tuesday.  Crooks, a former Brown County judge, won his first 10-year term on the high court in 1996 and won re-election in 2006. His current term ends on July 31.  The 77-year-old Crooks is one of seven justices on the Supreme Court. He’s typically seen as a swing vote between the four-justice conservative majority and the two-justice liberal-leaning minority.
