A Fond du lac man convicted of a series of home invasions is going to prison for a long time. Fond du Lac judge Gary Sharpe has sentenced Lucas Leffel to 18 years in prison followed by 12 years of extended supervision. Prosecuting attorney Dennis Krueger says he’s satisfied with the sentence. ” Mr. Leffel had a sexual disorder that caused him to enter people’s homes. They were obviously unsuspecting, the conduct was dangerous and we believe the court sentence was appropriate,” Krueger told WFDL news. Leffel earlier pleaded no contest to three counts of attempted second degree sexual assault. Several other counts were dismissed and read into the record. Police say Leffel admitted to entering four homes in the southeast side of town while naked last year.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
