9-24-15 walker drops out-reaction

todaySeptember 23, 2015

Political observers say they were surprised how quickly Governor Scott Walker dropped out of the presidential race.  Walker announced he was suspending his campaign Monday… only 70 days after officially getting into the race.  Wispolitics.com editor J.R. Ross says he can’t remember the last time a candidate who was on top of the polls entering the face…fell so quickly out of favor.  ‘That’s a good question and we’ve seen flame-outs before, Michelle Bachmann in 2011, she was the flavor of the month for a while, Howard Dean had a big flame-out but that kind of came later,”  Ross told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  “This is kind of unusual in the quickness of the ascension and the demise it really was a rocket trajectory.”   Ross says Walker seemed to have trouble dealing with questions outside his talking points.  Ross says it remains to be seen whether Walker could still be part of the Republican ticket as vice president and the impact of Walker’s poor presidential campaign on his popularity at home.
