A Dodge County boy is being recognized for his life-saving actions. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says 11 year old Christopher Rios Sarabia is credited with helping to save the life of a young woman who had overdosed from heroin. Schmidt says Sarabia was walking through a town of Beaver Dam parking lot when he came upon a vehicle and unconscious driver. Schmidt says Christopher tried to wake the woman, ran back home to get his mother and dialed 911 to start the emergency response. Schmidt issued a letter of commendation to Christopher for his exemplary actions and a special ceremony was held at a recent Beaver Dam High School football game.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
