9-21-15 airplane crash in east central wi

SHIOCTON, Wis. (AP) — Authorities are investigating an airplane crash in east-central Wisconsin.  The Outagamie County Sheriff's Department was called late Saturday about the crash just north of the Shiocton Airport.  The plane was flying to the airport when it turned over and crashed into a cornfield. No injuries were reported.  The sheriff's department has not released how many people were in the airplane.

A Fond du lac  man convicted of  a series of home invasions is going to prison for a long time.   Fond du Lac judge Gary Sharpe has sentenced Lucas Leffel  to 18 years in prison followed by 12 years of extended supervision.  Prosecuting attorney Dennis Krueger says he's satisfied with the sentence.  " Mr. Leffel had a sexual disorder that caused him to enter people's homes.  They were obviously unsuspecting, […]

The North Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission is meeting Monday afternoon to officially accept the resignation of the Fire Chief.  Richard Zmuda submitted his resignation last week after he was arrested on theft charges out of the state of Pennsylvania.  Zmuda is accused of stealing more than $47,000 from an elderly aunt.  He waived extradition during a Fond du Lac court appearance this week.  The village police and […]

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A published report says a major donor to Gov. Scott Walker has reached an agreement with the Department of Natural Resources to buy some prime lakefront property in northern Wisconsin.  The agreement calls for the DNR to sell Elizabeth Uihlein  765 feet of frontage on Rest Lake in Vilas County for $275,000.
