9-16-15 oakfield man charged in severe beating

An Oakfield man  accused of assaulting,strangling and holding a woman against her will has posted $5000 cash bail.  Fifty one year old Jay Smith is charged with battery, strangulation, false imprisonment, intimidation of a witness, and disorderly conduct.  According to a criminal complaint, Smith repeatedly punched and kicked the woman striking her an estimated 100 times.  She told authorities Smith became angry when he could not perform sexually.  The woman said Smith refused to […]

The Fond du Lac Area United Way has kicked  off this year’s fundraising campaing.  United Way Interim Executive Director Amber Kilawee says this year’s goal is $756,000.  Kilawee says Brenner Tank and Society insurance are the pace setters this year’s fund drive.  'We are just under $120,000.  Brenner Tank and Society Insurance account for half of that,"  Kilwaee told WFDL news.  This Wednesday the United Way is teaming up with […]

9-16-15 female orangutan dies at milwaukee county zoo

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A female orangutan has died at Milwaukee County Zoo. The zoo says the orangutan, named MJ, died Monday of unknown causes. She was 35 years old. The zoo says preliminary reports indicate the orangutan had chronic health issues, but none of those appeared to be a single cause of death.
