Authorities have released the name of the person struck and killed by a train in Dodge County . The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says 20 year old Zarek Kniffen of Fond du Lac was killed when he was struck by a train on the railroad tracks near STH 49 and Windhover road in the Township of Lomira. A preliminary investigation shows that Kniffen was on the tracks and was struck by a train that was heading to the South. The Sheriff’s Office says the circumstances are currently under investigation but foul play is not suspected.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
